Paul Friedlander sólo puede ser definido como un escultor cinético de la luz.
Criado en Cambridge en un entorno lleno de estudios de la relatividad, agujeros negro, cosmólogo aspirantes y expertos en propulsión interestelar. Allí sufre una metamorfosis hacia el arte como diseñador de iluminación y escultor científico de la luz.
Primer grado en física y matemáticas de la Universidad de Sussex, su tutor personal, Anthony Leggett, recibió posteriormente el Premio Nobel por su trabajo sobre la superfluidez.
En 1995 resulta ganador del premio del prestigioso ARTEC, líder japonés en muestra de arte hitech.
En 1998 recibió el Premio de los Estados Unidos USHIO para la Innovación.
Ganador del LIGHTFORMS 98 en Nueva York.
En 2003, ganador del premio de Organización arte cinético.
En 2004, ganador del premio de Organización arte cinético.
Ha expuesto en 3 continentes y 12 países

The installation is a development of the long standing wave series. It is the first light sculpture to be lit entirely by LEDs. Many thanks to my electronics engineer, Louis Norwood, for helping realise some ideas I have been contemplating for years and finally the technology has matured so I now have a completely new computer controllable light source.

· Raised in Cambridge on a diet of relativity and black holes, one time aspiring cosmologist and interstellar propulsion expert. Metamorphosed to stage lighting designer, scientific artist and light sculptor.

· First degree in physics and maths from Sussex University, Paul’s personal tutor, Anthony Leggett, subsequently received the Nobel Prize for work on superfluidity.
