This dance is an extension of my study of movement possibilities within confined realms and a continued inquiry into the boundaries between body and image, investigated in my 2011 work, Limited States. In Collective Measures, the spatial dimensions of my canvas open up, but it is now densely populated.”

A Shen Wei Dance Arts foi idealizada e é liderada pelo artista multimídia chinês Shen Wei, responsável pela coreografia da abertura da Olimpíada de Pequim 2008. Com sede em Nova York (EUA), a companhia revela em cada trabalho movimentos originais combinados com elementos de filmes, teatro, novas mídias e arte visual.
Biografia Shen Wei
Internacionalmente reconhecido pela amplitude e alcance de sua visão artística, Shen Wei é um artista completo: coreógrafo, diretor de palco, figurinista, iluminador, pintor, artista plástico e cineasta. Nascido em Hunan, na China, estudou ópera chinesa. Em 1991, fundou a primeira companhia de dança moderna na China – Guangdong. Em 1995, com uma bolsa de estudos, mudou-se para Nova York. Em julho de 2001, formou a Shen Wei Dance Arts. Dentre outros trabalhos importantes, Shen Wei teve a honra de ser o primeiro coreógrafo convidado pelo Metropolitan Museum of Art (EUA) a criar um trabalho especificamente para uma de suas galerias e também recebeu encomendas do Edinburgh International Festival e do Park Avenue Armory.
