Viktor Popović was born in 1972 in Split, Croatia. 1996 he graduated painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Since 1997 he has been working as an assistant for drawing and painting at the Academy of Arts, University of Split. He was appointed senior assistant in 2000 and assistant professor in 2002.
Viktor has exhibited in many shows in Croatia and abroad, including: Galić Salon (Split, 1998), Gallery SC (Zagreb, 1999), Art Gallery (Split, 2000), IX Croatian Sculpture Triennial, Glyptotheque HAZU (Croatian Association of Artists) (Zagreb, 2006), Portland Art Center (Portland, 2006), “Project: Delta” (with Branka Juras), Marganovo/Hartera (former paper factory) (Rijeka, 2008). Some of his latest exhibitions were: solo exhibitions in 2011 at Gallery of Fine Arts in Split and Gallery of Fine Arts at the Civic Museum in Zadar, and some international group shows in Helsinki (Galleries MUU and FAFA, 2009) , New York (Broadway Gallery, 2009), London (Oblong Gallery,2010) and Wien (Kunsthalle Wien Project Space, 2012).
He won the annual Croatian Association of Artists Award for Young Artists (Zagreb, 2006), the annual Filip Trade Contemporary Art Award (Zagreb, 2005), the Grand Prix at the VIII Croatian Sculpture Triennial, Glyptotheque HAZU (Croatian Association of Artists) (Zagreb, 2003). He lives and works in Split, Croatia.
