Work: For Your Eyes Only (2012 – now) For Your Eyes Only is a visual love letter to an intimate lover. I am interested in the mundane life, in finding things and making fun of it, liberating it from what it is. This project is a combination of daily life and performance with a naughty attitude. It’s an extension to my “Experimental Relationship” project, which portrays a female dominant relationship. This project was initialed with the support of EnFoco’s New Works Award.

Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Yijun Liao is an artist currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

She is a recipient of NYFA Fellowship, En Foco’s New Works Fellowship and was a selected winner of LensCulture Exposure Awards and Magenta’s Flash Forward Award, etc,. She was a Honorable Mentionee of New York Photo Awards and a finalist of ITS Photo Award.

Liao is currently a darkroom resident at Camera Club of New York. She has done artist residencies at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace program and Woodstock AIR program at CPW.

Liao’s photographs have been exhibited internationally, including Arario Gallery (NY), kunst licht Gallery (China), VT Artsalon (Taiwan), Kips Gallery (Korea), The Running Horse Contemporary Art Space (Lebanon), NordArt (Germany), Pingyao International Photography Fest (China), etc,.

Liao holds a MFA in photography from University of Memphis.
