Trisha Brown

Newark & M.G

Cod.Act

πTon/2
πTon/2 is a sound installation that intervenes in the continuity of the researches of Cod.Act on mechanical and sound organicity. It results from an experience on the deformation of an elastic form and its incidence on the evolution of a musical work. The object is a flexible ring closed on itself. It is set in motion by torsional engines located inside its body. πTon, by twisting and waving on itself, moves in a very natural and unpredictable way.

FILE GAMES

Limbo is a 2D sidescroller, incorporating the physics system Box2D to govern environmental objects and the player character. The player guides an unnamed boy through dangerous environments and traps as he searches for his sister. The developer built the game’s puzzles expecting the player to fail before finding the correct solution. Playdead called the style of play “trial and death“, and used gruesome imagery for the boy’s deaths to steer the player from unworkable solutions.

INFINITUM
INFINITUM is an immersive art – architectural installation presented at the Sharjah Art Museum on the occasion of the Islamic Arts Festival 2019/20, 22nd Edition. Arches are typical in Mosques’ design. […] Islamic Arches buildings are typically constructed of stone, wood being rarer in the original Middle Eastern homelands of the Umayyads. The rows of Columns and Arches give a visual impression of limitless space, as a metaphor of the progress for human civilization, maximizing spiritual symbolism and visual appeal – progressing towards an ideal civilization. It refers to centuries of human civilization and the creation of prospective in social spaces and the openness to open possibilities of human life.

Neotenous dark dwellers
Lygophilia
Lygophilia weaves together mythologies and sciences, history and future, fears and desires, continents, cultures, humans and non-humans. Lygophilia folds and unfolds the stories carried by those fascinating creatures that are the Mexican Axolotl and the Slovene Proteus.
From immortality to regenerative medicine — both animals are, as adults, in a state of “eternal youth” (neoteny) showing extraordinary longevity and regenerative abilities that put them at the centre of ancient myths as well as current cutting-edge scientific researches.

Museum Motus Mori
“In 2018 we started our new project Motus Mori, in which Katja is going to research and preserve movements which are in danger of extinction. Motus Mori is a longterm project (2018-2020) that consists of an ungoing research with multiple presentations like a choreographical TED-talk, mobile movement laboratories, field researches with divers groups of people, large movement expositions, city- rituals… This way Katja and her team will work on a growing collection of endangered human movements.”

Hiro Yamagata focuses on the technique as well as on physics. By using lasers as a mean of expression, he searches for the possibilities of creation , constantly looking for a new technique to experiment. Consequently, his aim is science itself and his creations have the goal to present a new technique which is often futuristic.

Caten
Created for the Saint Sauveur chapel in Caen, Caten is a levitating sculpture, determined by gravity and guiding the evolution of a sound composition.
300 fine wires suspended from two ropes, connected themselves at each end to a slowly rotating arm, form an evanescent surface which interacts with the architecture. By a symbolic mirror effect, the curves of the wires, created by the gravitational force, reflect the shapes of the church arches. Caten opposes the ephemeral to the eternal, the movement to the static, and produce a tension between the lightness and the millenary stability of the space.

Souk Mirage

The Souk Mirage, or “Particles of Light”, master plan is composed of modular structural system of arches that range in size according to program. Originally “inspired by the harmonious silhouette of traditional Bedouin tents,” the arches’ purpose is to provide a simple system of organization whose “unique and timeless architectural expression” provides the framework for an intricate retail, office and cultural center shaped around public plazas and atriums.

There is nothing natural in nature; technology makes our humanness giving form to our surroundings. The human habitat reveals a techno-morphed structure that can no longer be hidden behind the vestiges of a natural world: technology has to be naturalized. Shooting Thoughts
Филип Вилас-Боас
filipe vilas-boas has created an interactive projection called ‘shooting thought’ which enables people to generate star constellations by sending thoughts through their mobile device. these ideas connect to lasers and become shooting stars that follow any possible path that paris’ saint-eustache church’s architecture allows. the project was co-commissioned by art, culture et foi and nuit blanche paris. The pillars are the launch-pads that send the stars past arches and vaults to their destinations on the ceilings. each one reaches its on place, at its own speed and with an individual trajectory. ‘shooting thoughts’ means each person who engages with the lasers, can send their own star and be part of the display.

snowballing doorway
