PizzaBot – Vietnam

PizzaBot explores architectural automation using identical geometries for building blocks and assembly robots. By utilizing digital materials and discrete assembly, the project redefines construction through part-to-whole relationships. Shaped like a box, this “relative robot” moves along its own structure using one-axis motion to manipulate matching passive elements. Coordination of numerous bots is managed via a BIM application for task planning and collision avoidance, while machine learning aids navigation. Prototypical habitats show how this system creates site-specific assemblies that adapt to terrain and achieve large spans.

BIO

Nguyễn Xuân Mẫn is an architect, computational designer, and founder of XMArchitect. With a Master’s from The Bartlett, UCL, his practice bridges advanced computational research, seen in projects like PizzaBot, with sustainable architecture. Guided by Digital Regionalism, he currently focuses on developing green modular homes in Vietnam using upcycled materials and local heritage.
