TADAO CERN

Palloncini Neri

GK TECH

GK-0G – Floating Habitat

The GK-0G is the minimum size prototype of a scalable floating installation.
It is composed of five tetrahedral frameworks, its basic structural elements, arranged like sections of an orange. It is enveloped with a cover which acts as an interface between internal and external environments.Flotation is gained by tetra balloons inside the tetrahedral frameworks. As the only choice at this moment, helium is encapsulated inside the tetra balloons made of an impermeable film. This model is meant to verify that it can float and move in the air. It is considered that different degrees of flotation can be gained by combining tetra balloons in different ways.

Wayne Mcgregor

Torus
Directed by British fashion photographer Nick Knight of SHOWStudio, Torus is a film on human connection and loneliness featuring choreography by Wayne McGregor and styling by Norwegian designer Fredik Tjærandsen. Performed by Company Wayne McGregor, Torus shows dancers wearing inflatable balloons designed by Tjærandsen, orbiting in darkness as isolated entities, occasionally lit as they transition through a temporal universe, a mirror to the life that many are only passing through, barely connecting.

OLIVIER GROSSETÊTE

Ponte do macaco
Este projeto é a continuação da ponte suspensa. Um formato externo, planejado para o jardim japonês Tatton Park para a bienal de mesmo nome. Esta ponte de corda sairá da água e formará um arco pela tração dos grandes balões de hélio.

monkey bridge

This project is the continuation of the suspension bridge. An outdoor format, planned for the Japanese Tatton Park garden for the biennial of the same name. This rope bridge will come out of the water and form an arc by the pull of the large helium balloons.

Jonas Pequeno

Foley
Huxley-Parlour gallery presents a solo exhibition of new audiovisual and installation works by the London-based artist Jonas Pequeno. Comprising of three works, a kinetic sound installation Foley, a CGI video Ocean Scene Composite and a photographing print, and the act of appearing, the exhibition considers incongruity in digital fictional constructs. The title of the exhibition, /ˈfəʊli/, is a phonetic transcription of the word foley, a film-making technique used to manually mimic everyday sound effects in post-production when props do not acoustically match their real life counterparts. Influenced by the concept of foley, Pequeno’s work features an audiovisual installation that incorporates microphones and balloons swayed by a fan, replicating the sound of crashing ocean waves.

Heart to Mouth
Sheath your arrows: the voluptuous red heart, international symbol of love, is reimagined in this a visceral new short by genre-defying Dutch artist Bart Hess. With echoes of high-tech fetish fashion and Jeff Koons’ contemporary pop art classic “Hanging Heart,” Hess’ latest video stages a Sapphic encounter from within crimson latex balloons.

MYEONGBEOM KIM

МИЕОНГБЕОМ КИМ
김명범
Myeong Beom Kim is from Seoul, Korea. He produces otherworldly installations and sculpture works that juxtapose man-made elements with nature to create surreal dream spaces. Utilising suspension as a common motif, his works are constantly poised in a state of ambiguous wonderment. Within his installations, living things are held inside the fragile confines of light bulbs and helium balloons replace tree foliage, literally uplifting the tree and its roots.

HANS HEMMERT

ハンス・ハマート

Hans Hemmert is fascinated by air and latex balloons in a bright canary yellow. But these aren’t just your average latex inflatables, some fill entire rooms while others surround Hemmert himself. Posing as a giant elongated egg, he performs dances or interacts with the objects outside his elastic bubble.

Local Androids

Like living organisms

“Like living organisms” Is an interactive skin-dress that expresses excitement like between two people when they first meet. Our work breathes; it shows a pulse through its veins on the hips and inflates/deflates the shoulder balloons. When approached it responds by increasing its pulse rate through the veins as if it’s excited. It’s now up to the visitor to respond to this excitement. Upon contact the suit will show it’s vulnerable side by deflating the shoulder balloons.

ANNE HARDY

Residual Balance

The type of objects she chooses have ranged from large antlers, brightly coloured cables, old Christmas trees, light bulbs, American basketballs, orange balloons, scientific test tubes and even butterflies. Hardy puts these everyday objects together and transforms them into unusual, almost dreamlike, environments which can be unnerving with their themes of abandonment and desolation.

To most people, balloons are simply associated with children, décor and celebratory events. Their role is usually meek − look cute and embellish. But to the internationally-acclaimed Swiss performance artist Victorine Müller, they hold a much greater meaning and usefulness. The inflatable aspect of balloons is an essential part of her work. For over fourteen years now, she has been combining the disciplines of painting and sculpture, with sound art and performance.
