URBAN SUN des Designers Daan Roosegaarde und seines Teams ist die weltweit erste künstliche Sonne, die öffentliche Räume mit einem sicheren UVC-Licht von 222 Nanometern vor dem Coronavirus desinfiziert. Nach dem erfolgreichen Start in Rotterdam geht URBAN SUN auf Welttournee zum Aarhus Festival in Dänemark, dem Museum of Design Atlanta in den USA, dem niederländischen Pavillon auf der World Expo 2020 Dubai in den VAE und anderen Orten. URBAN SUN ist eine innovative Designinstallation, die bessere und sicherere Räume schafft, um freier zu atmen.

Electric Chair

The distinctive work of Sam Buxton is dominated by his innovative use of advanced materials and technologies. From his immensely popular MIKRO series (miniature fold-up sculptures, laser cut into thin strips of stainless steel through an acid etching process) to his explorations concerning interactive intelligent surfaces on the familiar objects around us, his work has continually managed to blur the lines between art, science and design.Through his work, which has regularly involved relatively common objects ranging from business cards to a dining table, Buxton has demonstrated an ability to see potential in what others take for granted. His on-going efforts in developing objects that can communicate, display information and react to the actions of the user, demonstrate his commitment to investigating the delicate relationship between the human body and its environment. Buxton’s fusion of art and science has resulted in a highly innovative and unique range of personal designs, many of which, have utilized the latest, most advanced materials and technologies available.

Specialising in womenswear and textiles, his collections are bold and emotive creating a forward thinking unafraid vision. Richard creates garments with attention to innovative fabrications, focusing on his ability to combine unique handcrafted skill, with a refined high fashion sensibility.

Hussein Chalayan wurde in Zypern geboren und schloss 1993 an der Londoner Central St. Martins School of Art and Design ab. Bereits 1994 gründete er sein eigenes Mode­label und in den Jahren 1999 und 2000 wurde er zum British Designer of the Year ernannt. Seit 2002 zeigt er seine Kollektionen in Paris und 2008 wurde er zum Creative Director von Puma berufen. Chalayans Kreationen zeichnen sich durch innovatives Design, wunderschöne Schnitte und ein puristische Ästhetik aus. Museen auf der ganze Welt widmen ihm Ausstellungen, unter anderem das Museum of Modern Art, New York, das Musée de la Mode et du Textile, Palais du Louvre, Paris oder das Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo. Neben seinem Modedesign macht Hussein Chalayan Filme und ist in Theater- und Tanzproduktionen involviert.

Burning Man is much more than just a temporary community. It’s a city in the desert, dedicated to radical self reliance, radical self-expression and art. Innovative sculpture, installations, performance, theme camps, art cars and costumes all flower from the playa and spread to our communities and back again. In this section you will learn what you need to know about creating art for the playa, find out all about this year’s art installations, read essays about Burning Man and art from both staff and participants, and revisit some past off-playa art events and exhibitions.

Animated Apertures

instead of windows, mouths with green “hair” that sway in the wind. This is the Animated Apertures Housing Tower, a project of the American architecture firm B + U. The fun building appears to have been attacked by carnivorous plants. The residential building will be built in Lima, Peru. Architects Herwig Baumgartner and Scott Uriu, known for the use of new materials, explain that they wanted to “show that architecture can exist between nature and technology”. Therefore, the designs and colors that imitate plants, in a building that looks more like a living organism. The “hairs” of the windows will be made of a special silicone and will move with the wind, giving the impression of being tentacles. The project is also innovative in its structure, because instead of several small windows, it proposes few and large openings. Thus, professionals avoided a regular facade. The building will have 20 floors and 90 car spaces in an underground car park. The coverage will also have a garden and swimming pool for residents.
